XIE Engineering Design has developed its own structural optimization software based on the latest Bi-directional Evolutionary Structural Optimization (BESO) technology pioneered by Professor Mike Xie's team. The software integrates the parametric design principle, and is linked to commonly-used commercial finite element analysis software packages. It has the capacity to deal with structural optimization problems in both static and dynamic conditions.
As an assistive design tool, the software is applicable to a wide range of structural optimisation problems in buildings, bridges, engineering equipment, medical devices and so on, helping designers achieve light-weight, efficient and aesthetic structural forms and obtain integrated solutions to cross-disciplinary problems.
